It was introduced that the average contents of negative oxygen ion in Guidong county are 25,272pcs／cm³and the maximum momentary value can be of 150,000pcs／cm³ , which creates the new world record on the contents of negative oxygen ion. On July 28, 2015, the World Record Association issued the certificate to Guidong county officially and certified Guidong county as the county with the maximum contents of negative oxygen ion in the world.

“We got Guidong Government’s application for the world record on February 22, 2015. After the strict appraisal, data analysis and on-site inspection, I’m now declaring that Guidong county successfully creates the “world record of the county with maximum negative oxygen ion in the world”!” Zhang Jian- Senior Official of the World Record Association announced the good news on the Investment Attraction Conference for the Great East Hunan Tourism Economy Cooperation Alliance which was held on July 28, 2015 and issued the certificate to Guidong county there as well.

It was learned that Guidong county was selected as “China’s Superlatives- the county with maximum contents of negative oxygen ion in China” by the Shanghai Guinness World Records. Negative oxygen ion is called as “vitamin of the air”. Higher concentration of the negative oxygen ion, the air will be fresher. According to the report released by World Health Organization that if the contents of negative oxygen ion are higher than 10,000pcs/ cm³, it can help to prevent and cure disease; if it is between 400-1000pcs/cm³, it can meet the requirement of keeping healthy; and if it is less than 50pcs/ cm³, it may induce some diseases. 

Guidong county is one of the counties of Chenzhou city, Hunan province. Now, there are a national natural reserve area and a national forest farm available there. Its average altitude is 881meters and downtown’s altitude is 830meters, which enables it to be the county with highest altitude in Hunan province. Its forest coverage rate is 85%, ranking the first place of Hunan province. Guidong county is warm in winter and cool in summer. Its average temperature in summer is 6-8℃ lower than Changsha city, so it is an excellent “fitness heaven, summer resort”.
