In order to further promote the upgrading projects of greening on Guijia road, Linjia road and S214, a special investigation on the greening work handled out by the counties along the roads was taken by the greening projects office. The working report of this investigation was as follow:

First, working progress and some problems:

In April, 2013, three secret investigations were led by the greening projects office of Chenzhou city to check the upgrading greening work handled out by the counties along Guijia road, Linjia road and S214. The counties followed the notices delivered by the office after the secret investigations to improve their work and solve the problems accordingly. Currently, land work for greening projects along Guijia road and S214 has been fulfilled by Guiyang county. The county was starting the seedlings planting work. Jiahe county’s section of Guijia road was under afforestation process after finishing the land acquisition issues, while the section of Linjia road was re-assumed the upgrading greening work for the cancelation of the widening project of this section. Linwu county carried a sound greening work on the sections of the relative roads.

Following are the specified working condition of the upgrading projects:

1). Guiyang county

When some of the seedlings were cultivated well for planting, Guiyang county started its greening work for S214. Till now, the part surrounded Guiyang county has been facilitated with a line of the big seedlings of 8cm diameter and some shrubs. Garden style greening belts have been finished along both sides of the roads with excellent visual effect for its good design of the combined planting of bushes and flowers. Some of the unfinished parts were under the construction processes on the basis of planning. Though some achievements have been reached by Guiyang county, there were some problems as bad condition seedlings, lacking of protection measures, etc. for the county’s greening work

2). Jiahe county

Concerning for Jiahe section of Guijia road, Jiahe county carried out the plan to forge the “slow speed passage”. Most of the greening work of this section has been fulfilled till now, just some slopes required for further decoration. Some seedlings and flowers were delivered there for its future greening work.

Concerning for Jiahe section of Jialin road, Jiahe county started its upgrading of greening work after the cancelation of its extension. Till now, the key parts trees plantation work has been finished.

3). Linwu county

The greening upgrading work of both Linwu sections of S214 and Jialin road almost have been finished. Besides some trees, some creepers were planted on the slopes.

4). Beihu district

All the greening upgrading work of Beihu section of S214 has been fulfilled. Most of the seedlings along this section were selected with two-year-old eucalyptus. But because the cost for such two-year-old was about two times of one-year-old ones and it was with less afforestation effect than the one-year ones, it was suggested not to select the two-year-old ones in other projects.

2. Suggestions

a. accelerated speed should be proceeded for further afforestation. Summer season is coming soon which is not so good for the afforestation work, so all the counties should seize the best plantation season of spring to make sure the seedlings to grow up well.

b. enhanced technical guidance should be carried out accordingly. The technicians of the forestry departments of counties should inspect the plantation work on site with their professional guidance to make sure the final effect of the upgrading work.
c. strong protection work should be handled after plantation. All the counties should carry out protection work of the afforestation to make all the newly planted trees can grow up well.
